Minutes: Admin Meeting May 23, 2002 Present: Patti Loverink, Kymm Nelsen, Rachel Houghton, Ken and Vicki Miller, Christy Graunke, Teresa Shelton, Jeff Jansen, Margaret Jennings, Kellie Pierce, Jean Richardson, Robin Schuckmann, Kate Evans * After approving the minutes, we discussed a possible Zoomerang survey on program meeting locations, food, costs, times, etc. Concern has been expressed that the Greenwood Inn has no bus or Max service. Rachel and Vicki will get more information for our next meeting on doing the survey through Rose Hill, Ken Miller, or Zoomerang; security issues, avoiding duplicates, costs, etc. Margaret volunteered to help write survey questions. * The Marcomm SIG meeting was cancelled; the next meeting will be a round table discussion. Fred Kepler will be manager, and he needs a co-manager. * Jeff reported we have $18,214 now. We also expect $12,000-$13,000 in dues. * Robin Schuckmann said the Galley Education issue is almost ready, and the next issue will be on management and project development. There is a June 15th deadline for the July issue. Robin was happy to report our newsletter received an Award of Excellence from National. Kudos to Robin! * Kymm and Rachel discussed having Richard Lederer as our Sept. 16th program speaker. Possible topics might be Conan the Grammarian or Attila the Pun. We may wish to hold the meeting at the downtown Marriott, Governor, or Doubletree at Lloyd Center. Publicity should include local schools, NPR, Toastmasters, Willamette Writers, the CEW announcement list, etc. We also talked about reduced program fees for charitable donations. At the Dec. meeting people could bring cans for the Oregon Food Bank, and in Sept. they could bring school supplies. * End of the Year Party June 20th We have 21 signed up, and the room can hold 75. Christy has Lance's Oath of Office. We also devised an ice breaker. * Christy reported she has met with Patrice Dodd, the new PR person. Info about the Competition will go out in August, and the deadline for entries is Oct. 17th. Entries can be dropped off at Program Meetings. We also discussed the fact that some companies--Nike, Mentor Graphics--are not submitting to the Competition. We also talked about targeting our tech art and marcomm submission audience. * The evening concluded with appreciation to Patti Loverink for her terrific leadership this year.
